Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Virtuous Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 93 632 168 355), which makes and runs Play Onside (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Play Onside you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use Play Onside

You must be 18 or over. You need one account of your own, with your real name and an email address you can get to. Play Onside is starting in Sydney, Australia; you can use it anywhere, but some features (like places near a ground) work best in Australia.

2. Your account

Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has got in, reset your password straight away (Forgot password, on the log-in screen: it signs you out everywhere) and tell us.

3. Circles, Find a circle and Find a partner

A circle's captain decides who can find it and who can join, and can remove players. If a captain leaves, the longest-standing player takes over. Find a partner only shows you to others if you switch on Open to play, and you can switch it off at any time. Saying yes to “Want to play?” opens a private chat between the two of you; it's up to you whether you meet.

4. Games and meeting up: your responsibility

• Play Onside helps you organise. It doesn't run games, own or book grounds, or supervise anyone. Sport carries a risk of injury. You take part at your own risk and should play within your fitness and ability.
• Meet in public places, especially when meeting someone through Find a partner for the first time.
• Booked ground details, costs, team sheets, weather forecasts, places nearby and directions are information only. Check them yourself. Forecasts can be wrong, and places may be closed.
• Play Onside doesn't handle money. Any costs (like a ground fee split between players) are between you and the other players.
• After the game: if you have a drink, drink responsibly and never drive after drinking.

5. How to behave

Don't use Play Onside to:

• harass, bully, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone;
• post anything sexual, violent, hateful, illegal or misleading;
• pretend to be someone else, or share someone's personal details without their permission;
• send spam or advertising, or collect other players' information;
• interfere with how Play Onside works, or try to get around blocks and limits.

We have zero tolerance for abusive users and objectionable content. Report anything that breaks these rules: hold a message in a chat to report it, use the … menu on a player in Find a partner, or email us. Every report comes straight to us and we look at it within 24 hours. You can block anyone.

6. Your content

You own what you post (messages, notes, results and so on). You give us permission to store it and show it to the people it's meant for in Play Onside, only to run the service. You're responsible for what you post.

7. Moderation and closing accounts

We may remove content, or pause or close an account, if it breaks these terms or puts others at risk. When a report shows a breach, we remove the content, and the account where needed, within 24 hours. Where it's reasonable we'll tell you why. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Me → Delete my account); see Delete your account.

8. Fees

Play Onside is free. If we ever add paid features, we'll tell you clearly before you're charged anything, and you won't pay for anything you didn't choose.

9. Our app and brand

The Play Onside name, logo, app and website belong to us. You can use the app for your own sport, not to copy, resell or build on it.

10. Changes

We're improving Play Onside all the time, so features may change. If we change these terms, we'll post the new version here and tell you in the app before a significant change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

11. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law, and our liability

Our services come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for: what other players do or say; injuries, loss or damage from games, meet-ups or after-game plans; or losses from relying on information in the app (like forecasts, places or booking details). We provide Play Onside free and “as is”, and can't promise it will always be available or error-free.

12. Apple

If you got Play Onside from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or for supporting it, and Apple's Media Services terms also apply.

13. Complaints and disputes

Tell us first at playonsideapp@gmail.com and we'll try to sort it out. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
